Pharmaceutics offers courses in order to be application scientist or professional who can research into developing raw materials and resources of medical supplies or who can develop theory and technology on manufacture of medical supplies. The direction of education and research in the Department of Pharmaceutics is focusing on the synthesis in raw-material medical supplies, the development in the manufactured medicine, and the quality control in medical supplies. For this, it is operating research rooms such as physical pharmacy Classroom, microbiology Classroom, analytical chemistry Classroom, pharmaceutics Classroom, organic pharmaceutical chemistry Classroom, and pharmaceutical analysis Classroom, and is operating the practice room for the attached pharmacy, herb garden, central machinery room, and animal laboratory as the attached institutions.

As for the vocational fields available for being active after graduation, the activity is possible in the research and production field of pharmaceutical company, drugstore management, education and research field, fine chemistry field, and health medical field of administration agency.

 


Physical Pharmacy Classroom
The biological activity of drug in a body, in the ultimate sense, is the sum of molecular interactions such as transport, distribution, binding to its receptor, etc. all of which, in turn, are physical phenomena originating from the physicochemical properties of the individual molecules. physical pharmacy is a research area to study the macro-to-microscopic behaviours and properties of bioactive molecules. making use of the concepts from pure sciences and physical chemistry, and offering quanitative and rational backgrounds of drug actions at molecular level to other fields of pharmacy, physical phamacy is one field of pharmacy which has the final hope of making the whole world without diseases.

Major research field
Under the proposition of understanding biological activities of drugs at molecular level, the members of our lab. are trying to elucidate 3d-structures and properties of bio-active molecules, and to find out the basics of molecular interactions between them. to study the physicochemical properties of drug molecules, we are using several approaches such as thermal analysis, spectroscopy, solubility measurement, etc. x-ray crystallography is our major tool to determine the 3d structure of bio-active molecules. computer-aided simulation by molecular mechanical, dynamical calculations is another important approach of our research with the final purpose of new drug design based on 3d-structure & acivity relationships.

Analytical Chemistry Classroom
chemical analysis plays an essential role not only in pharmacutical science, chemistry, medicine, environmental science, geology, oceanography, material science, forensic science archeology, and a multitud of other fields. identifying the constituents of a substance is qualitative analysis, whereas analysis include qualitative and qualtative analysis of pharmaceutical preparations, materials associated with natural or artificial pharmaceutical resources, deal with quality control of pharmaceutical, assay method, also including also new development of assay methods and principles etc.

medical chemistry is an interdisciplinary research area incorporating synthetic organic chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, molecular biology and pharmaceutical chemistry in the search for better drugs. the effective treatment of patients with various diseases such as aids and cancer depends, to a great extent, on the ability of medicinal chemists to discover new drugs.

Major research field
1) design and synthesis of new potential antitumor agents in several different classes: the research includes the design of agents based on the structures of naturally-occurring tumor inhibitors and topoisomerase inhibitors.
2) design and synthesis of new antioxidants as potential neuroprotectants
